Movie: The Movie: 2V

After the 2012 Oscars Jimmy Kimmel unleashed the greatest film the world has ever seen – 'Movie: The Movie'.

And now Kimmel has unleashed the sequel – 'Movie: The Movie: 2V', starring: Rachel Weisz, Armie Hammer, Topher Grace, Jessica Chastain, Jude Law, Gerard Butler, Bryan Cranston, John Krasinski, Oprah Winfrey, Bradley Cooper, Kerry Washington, Guillermo Rodriguez, Jason Schwartzman, Chris Rock, Salma Hayek, Bruno Mars, Amanda Seyfried, Channing Tatum, Samuel L. Jackson, Wolf Blitzer, and even Matt Damon.

And The Oscar Goes To . . . The Winners

Here's the list of winners from last night's Oscars.

Best Animated Short, Best Animated Feature and Best Original Score are the awards I usually keep an eye out for. And can't really complain about the choices for the animated awards, I loved 'Paperman' and really enjoyed 'Brave' although it was up against some good animated films too ('Wreck-It-Ralph', 'ParaNorman' amongst others). I would've probably gone with Thomas Newman's 'Skyfall' score though.

Review: 'Wreck-It-Ralph'

I really enjoyed this. Another in the long line of entertaining animated films from Disney, and doing for video games what Toy Story did for toys.

'Wreck-It-Ralph' is a story of a villain trying to find acceptance and his self worth, and it's a story that's sprinkled with wit, heart and imagination and it's a winner! The cast (John C Reilly, Sarah Silverman, Jack McBrayer, Jane Lynch, Alan Tudyk and more) play their parts really well. And as you would expect from Disney, the animation is top notch too. I like the way the retro games/characters mirror the classic 8-bit style of movement too!

Other than the 'Wreck-It-Ralph' game, the main games pastiched in the movie are the Halo/Call Of Duty-alike shooter 'Heroes Duty' and the Mario Kart clone 'Sugar Rush', so if you enjoy those games you'll love those sequences. And if you grew up in the 80's and 90's then you'll get a kick out of spotting the video game characters, sound effects and references you'll see and hear throughout the film.

If you want to see a quality family film and you love your video games too, then I would definitely recommend 'Wreck-It-Ralph'.

**** out of 5

The film is preceded by the wonderful Disney short 'Paperman' too. One complaint though, why the hell did we in the UK have to wait until February until the film was released. 'Wreck-It-Ralph' was released in November in the US and is out on bluray over there in March!!! Bad move Disney!

Tomb Raider: The Final Hours 'The End of the Beginning, Part 1'

It's a culmination of everything and the clock is ticking. These are the final, Final Hours of Tomb Raider.

Cool Art: 'Star Trek Gadgets' by Matt Ferguson

New 'Monsters University' Trailer

Ever since college-bound Mike Wazowski (Billy Crystal) was a little monster, he has dreamed of becoming a Scarer—and he knows better than anyone that the best scarers come from Monsters University (MU). But during his first semester at MU, Mike's plans are derailed when he crosses paths with hotshot James P. Sullivan, "Sulley" (John Goodman), a natural-born Scarer. The pair's out-of-control competitive spirit gets them both kicked out of the University's elite Scare Program. To make matters worse, they realize they will have to work together, along with an odd bunch of misfit monsters, if they ever hope to make things right.
'Monsters University' will be out in cinemas July 13.

It’s that time of the year and love is in the air. So much so that Bottleneck Gallery has commissioned over 50 artists to “Get a Room.” No, they do not mean that in a literal sense. Rather, their newest exhibit will focus on the very couples and relationships that have come to define our perceptions of love and partnership in popular culture. Each artist will present a piece depicting a couple made famous by your favorite movies, television shows and books. Bottleneck has been bit by the love bug and they like it!

More awesome stained glass style Lord Of The Rings art from Jian Guo.
Tom Bombadil is a mysterious character who aids Frodo and his companions on their quest. He appears in three chapters, "The Old Forest", "In the House of Tom Bombadil", and "Fog on the Barrow-downs". He is also mentioned in the chapter "The Council of Elrond" as a possible keeper and protector of the One Ring, and is mentioned at the end of the story in "Homeward Bound" and "The Grey Havens".

Space Jam: 'I.S.S. (Is Somebody Singing)' by Chris Hadfield and Barenaked Ladies

Astronaut Chris Hadfield, from aboard the International Space Station, performs "I.S.S. (Is Somebody Singing)" with Ed Robertson, the rest of the Barenaked Ladies and the Wexford Gleeks from Wexford Collegiate School for the Arts, who were all at the CBC studios in Toronto.

The song, which was written by Hadfield and Robertson in partnership with Music Monday, CBC Music and the Canadian Space Agency, explores what it's like to look down on the Earth from outer space.

Cool Art: 'Thor: The Dark World' by Matt Ferguson

Yet another cool print from Matt Ferguson.

Similar to his 'Iron Man 3' print, here's 'Thor: The Dark World'.

Short Film: 'Head Over Heels'

Another Oscar-nominated Short Film is now online. Directed by Timothy Reckart, this was produced as a graduation project at the UK’s National Film & Television School. The film won the Best Student Film award at this years Annie Awards.
After many years of marriage, Walter and Madge have grown apart. They don't even bother to argue anymore, even though they can't agree which way is up—literally. Walter lives on the floor, and Madge lives on the ceiling; or if you ask Madge, it's Walter who lives on the ceiling. They live separate, parallel lives in the same house, never talking, barely even looking at each other.

Short Film: 'Adam and Dog' by Minkyu Lee

Nominated for this year's Academy Award for Best Animated Short Film, and winner of the 2012 Annie Award for Best Animated Short Subject; 'Adam And Dog' by Minkyu Lee.
This is a short film that me and a group of my close friends made. It was put together by artists who work at various studios, including Disney Feature, Dreamworks and Pixar; The animation is done by myself, Jennifer Hager, James Baxter, Mario Furmanczyk, Austin Madison, and Matt Williames. Glen Keane also helped by being a consultant on the film, and also doing some visual development. It is a completely independent film without any major studio involvement. We are really excited for people to see it, and wanted to share.” – Minkyu Lee
